The Atlanta branch of The International Academy of WingChun® will sponsor an open martial arts training seminar on Saturday, July 31, 2010. The US chief instructor at the IAW Headquarters in Berkeley, California, Paul Wang, will lead the seminar. Special classes and private lessons will also be tentatively scheduled for Sunday, August 1, 2010 with limited times available.
Wang, a private student of IAW founder Sifu Klaus Brand of Germany, is a 3rd Level Technician in the WingChun® system, making him the most highly qualified IAW representative in North America. His education includes Integrative Biology at UC Berkley with research experience in Human Locomotion and Biodynamics. He is also a practitioner of Chinese Medicine with an emphasis on Channel Diagnosis and Meridian Theory, a licensed acupuncturist, and a certified massage therapist.
“In our training seminars across the country and abroad, we are expanding our unique art,” said Wang of the upcoming event. “Self-defense will be the primary agenda item with emphasis on strengthening the musculature, the ligaments, and bones as we practice our fighting skills. I will expose the hidden power that WingChun® training offers practitioners. It is our goal to improve our students’ skill, power, and confidence, which are prerequisites to overcoming attackers.”
This is an excellent opportunity for those wanting to get an introduction to self-defense using the art of WingChun®, students of WingChun® that want to re-energize their training, and any martial arts practitioner, regardless of style or experience.
